My name is Dan Spurgeon, as a designer my primary goal is to connect my clients with the needs of their users.

I pride myself on my ability to learn and adapt to my clients and their users needs. I do this through a mixture of:

Throughout my degree I have had the priviledge of exploring a great variety of design solutions. These are the ones that I gravitate towards naturally as a designer.

Ideation

Exploring possible design solutions is often where most of the work is done. It allows me to connect with clients and work towards the best possible solution for their users.

Typography was my first love when it came to design. I began developing typefaces long before entering into the design industry. Type not only allows us to communicate on a core level, but present the personality of a brand to its users.

Color Systems

Color is a core component of any design system. Color has the ability to accentuate the personality of a brand as well as elevate the ability for users to interact with an interface.

Logo Design

Logos are possibly the most important aspect of a brand's ability to connect with it's users. I love working through logo designs with clients. I pride myself on my ability to produce many options quickly and refine them down to the best possible solution.

Vector Graphics

I have been working in vector based graphic programs for over a decade. I value the flexibility vector based graphics provide in upscaling and downscaling. I work hard to make sure my designs not only work in the largest formats but also the smallest.

HTML & CSS

Working within HTML and CSS is probably what I find the most gratifying as a designer. It gives me the ability to not only design a beautiful product, but produce a functional and interactive result that can be untilized immediately.

Design Approach

Designing with the user experience in mind is the core to all my designs. This process involves a variety to tools I work to refine on a daily basis.

Problem Solving

Possibly the most important aspect of designing for users is solving problems. Finding ways to empathize and understand what users are going through helps elevate how designs function. It is an endless process and I find it incredibly gratifying to work with users to find the best possible solutions to suit their needs.

User Focused

Connecting with and understanding the user base behind a product is possible the most valuable aspect of design. I work hard to understand who resonates with a product or brand, and evaluate what is the best way to connect with them. This involves in depth user research, inverviews, surveys, and product testing.

Figma Prototyping

Figma gives us the ability to product test before core development goes underway. It allows us to figure out what works as well as possible flaws within a user experience system.

Multi-Platform Designs

The adaptability of a design can either be it's strength or it's greatest weakness. In all the designs I construct I keep in mind the large range of devices that may be utilized by users.
